Work In Ur Underwear started as an inside joke.
Let’s start from the beginning. I started my career off as a graphic designer. When I told people what I was doing with my life, they seemed to think that designers just sat around in their underwear, ate Doritos, and slacked off all day. That general impression everyone seemed to have, other than having know idea what a graphic designer was.
Although it was partially true. I can attest to many days and nights of not putting proper pants on and eating Doritos, however, I did not slack off all day. Contrary to what people think, graphic designers spend a lot of time reading and learning, A LOT of time. Mostly because we need to have background knowledge before we design something like a logo for a business, or an advertisement promoting or selling a product or service.
Graphic designers require business background information, demographic information, market and competitor data, and more. All to make quality designs that will create an impact or entice a call to action. Or just to make a logo that doesn’t look exactly like a competitors. There is a lot of background work that goes into design that the client and end user never see.
Almost anyone can come up with a concept, not everyone can take a concept or idea and create a fully executed design. Especially one that isn’t infringing upon someone else’s design, and is able to be used in multiple applications. Which are the main reasons every business no matter how small or large, should hire a professional graphic designer. Even if they have a funny or weird name.
